Tschool, pronounced as Tsu-cool, is a new style of a Fab-Café that opened in Tachikawa in February 2018, which has the means to support the MONOZUKURI workshop and startups for various businesses. The T of Tschool stands for Tokyo, Tama district and Tachikawa, but above that it also holds the meaning of TOOL, TECH and TEAM.

This space, which is said to hold the largest scale in West Tokyo, was created under the leadership of MACHIZUKURI Tachikawa (Tachikawa City Planning). In this project, I took the role of supervising the uses of graphic tools, such as VI development.

PROBLEM FRAMING

There are many schools within Tama district, such as Musashino Art University, Tokyo Gakugei University and Hitotsubashi University. Other than students, there are many working professionals living here who travel into central Tokyo from this West Tokyo district, and on top of that there are many families who spend their time together here on their days off. However, there are not many places nearby which provide a space for people to carry out their creativities by creating what they want to whenever they want; which is the reason why Tschool was born, in order to provide a creative community space for everybody in the area. This Fab-Café also provides business-startup counselors who are here to support both amateur and professional creators who may have little idea about how or where they can promote and exhibit their own artworks.

LOGOMARK DESIGN &

COMMUNICATION TOOLS

The icon is designed around the idea of allowing the visitors to recognise the place as a space for crafting at first glance, as well as the idea of summerising the concept in the letter T, which is the trademark of the logo. We also designed the tone of the logo to be rather fashionable in order to welcome the young creators visiting the area.
